OAKLAND, California, February 7, 1998 (AP). Cuauhtemoc Blanco scored twice and goalie Oscar Perez had four saves as Mexico beat Honduras 2-0 Saturday to advance to the semifinal round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournament. Blanco had his first goal in the 22nd minute, controlling a rebounded shot after it bounced off goalie Milton Flores and kicking it into the net for the score. In the 86th minute, Blanco dribbled past a defender and kicked the ball past Flores as he came out of the box to challenge him. Both teams coped with cold, sloppy conditions from heavy rain that pounded the area throughout the day. Mexico was to play its semifinal mach Thursday in Los Angeles against the Group I winner. The opponent has yet to be determined.
