OUAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso , February 25, 98 (AP) Benedict McCarthy scored twice Wednesday to earn defending champion South Africa a place in the final of the African Nations' Cup. McCarthy scored in the 60th minute and the 22nd minute of extra time against the Democratic Republic of Congo to become the tournament's top scorer with seven goals. South Africa, the last World Cup qualifiers still in the competition, came from behind to win the first of the two semifinals. Substitute Keve Bembuana had put Democratic Congo ahead in the 48th minute. South Africa will meet either hosts Burkina Faso or Egypt who were playing later Wednesday.
