England calls up teen for friendly

Marcelo Salas missed a penalty but grabbed a late equalizer as Chile was held to a 2-2 draw by Colombia in a World Cup warm-up match on Wednesday.

Salas wasted a chance to put Chile two goals ahead when he failed from the penalty spot at the start of a dramatic seven-minute spell which saw Colombia turn the game around with two quick goals. Then Salas scored the equalizer.

Central defender Javier Margas put Chile ahead with a spectacular header from the edge of the penalty area in the 21st minute of a game between two of South America's teams headed to the World Cup in France.

Salas's penalty came in the 77th minute and Colombia took full advantage of its let-off when Leider Preciado celebrated his debut by scoring in the 79th minute and again three minutes later.

But in the 84th minute Salas, who 10 days ago missed a crucial penalty for his Argentine club River Plate, made amends for his mistake by scoring with a deft flick following a cross by substitute Fernando Cornejo.

Preciado, who came on as a substitute in the 55th minute, had been included in the squad after getting 12 goals for Santa Fe in this year's Colombian championship, making him the top scorer in the tournament.

Chile, who in its last international two months ago beat England 2-0 at Wembley with Salas scoring both goals, was reduced to 10 men in the 30th minute when central defender Ronald Fuentes was sent off for a professional foul.

It had taken the lead despite early dominance by Colombia, who was out to avenge a 4-1 defeat in its last visit to Santiago in a World Cup qualifier last year.

Chile had a brief spell in command after its opening goal but Colombia took control again after Fuentes' dismissal.

Chile was without striker Ivan Zamorano after agreeing to a request from his Italian club Inter Milan not to release him while Colombia was missing injured striker Faustino Asprilla and veteran captain Carlos Valderrama.

Asprilla's absence gave a new chance to veteran striker Adolfo "The Train" Valencia, but it was Colombia's younger players, including Preciado and Edison Mafla, who stood out.
