QuarterFinal
Brazil-Denmark
Brazil coach hails dynamic Denmark
NANTES, July 3, 1998 - (AFP)

Brazil coach Mario Zagallo put Denmark on the same footing after Friday night's exciting quarter-final the defending champions won 3-2.

"You showed the world how football should be played," he said. "We could not have had a harder fought victory.

"We won because of the strength of our will and our ability to reach out and grab the win but Denmark dignified the game of football by their approach," he added.

"We won 3-2 but we could easily have lost 3-2. Brazil and Denmark showed everybody what the World Cup should be about."

Denmark coach Bo Johansson said: "It's never nice to lose but if you have to lose you can do it in no better way than by playing a game like that.

"It was a great game. I said before the match we weren't afraid to play against Brazil and not afraid to attack them and that's what happened."

He paid tribute to 34-year-old Michael Laudrup who hangs up his boots for good.

"It is a great pity that a world class player like Michael's career is now over.

"But if it has to be it is right that it comes in a game like this. We will miss him but he showed what a fantastic player he has been for us over the years."
