Group G - Colombia, Colombian star kicked off team |
Colombia kicked the star of its team out of the World Cup on Wednesday because he publicly criticized the coach.
Coach Hernan Dario Gomez said he expelled Faustino Asprilla because the player "broke the rules we had established" by blasting the coach in a radio interview.
"He took himself out of the team with his behavior," Gomez said.
Asprilla, who plays for Italy's Parma, did not participate in morning practice.
Asprilla earlier said Gomez had "disrespected" him when he took him out of the game against Romania five minutes from the end. Colombia lost 1-0.
He also said Gomez preferred other players.
