Bordeaux has been influenced by many different
cultures and was occupied by the English between the 12th
and 15th century. It has therefore always been very open
towards the rest of the world and possesses a heritage that
is unique in France and Europe. Bordeaux has, of course,
given its name to the most universal of wines.
The Bordeaux wines are known and appreciated all
over the world and have largely contributed to the prosperity
and fame of this well-preserved city. Finally, its historical
vocation for international trade and its exceptional geographical
position has won this city recognition for its industrial
dynamism and quality of life.
